Riders sustain injuries just like every other sport, but often struggle to find a provider who truly understands the unique demands on the body while riding. Your body’s health ultimately impacts not only how you ride, but also the health and performance of your equine partner. At Innova, our goal is to help you walk through the recovery phase of an injury, as well as, what it looks like to return to riding successfully.
In clinic treatment is one on one for 60 minutes. Focus is on the rider’s rehabilitation and addressing impairments from assessment. These visits may be billed through insurance (based on medical necessity) at Innova.
Treatment Plan: Established based on diagnosis and in clinic assessment.
Neuromuscular Re-education: To promote and train optimal movement.
Manual Therapy: To address soft tissue limitations and joint restrictions.
Home Exercise Program: Specific exercises to aide in rider stability in the saddle.
Education: On mechanics while riding, impacts of your posture while riding, and injury prevention.
Often riders are faced with impairments that are not necessarily painful but adversely affect performance. Riding requires a delicate combination of mobility and strength to create a balanced rider capable of responding to the forces of the horse’s motion. PT will identify impairments to work towards creating optimal movement patterns for riders on and off their horses.
Ashley Melton may provide Equestrian Performance Enhancement outside Innova at the rider’s barn through Flying Change Physiotherapy. Assessment is performed on/off their horse looking for imbalances that impact sport performance. This is not billable through insurance.
